What's On in Porto This Weekend: 11–12 July 2026
A free food-and-music festival in the City Park, jazz in the gardens of Serralves, a flea market with a century of stories, and love films under the stars. Here is how our crew would spend this weekend in Porto — starting, of course, on the water.
Start the day where Porto looks its best: on the Douro
Before the city wakes up properly, the river is at its calmest — soft morning light on the Ribeira façades, the six bridges overhead, and barely another boat around. That's why we always tell our guests: if you want to understand Porto, see it from the water first, then go explore what you spotted from deck.
Our private private 6 Bridges morning boat tour is made for exactly this. In two to three hours under sail you'll glide beneath all six bridges, pass the fishing village of Afurada and the Port wine cellars of Gaia, and get your bearings for the whole weekend — with a glass of something Portuguese in hand. Morning departures are the quietest of the day, and you're back ashore by lunchtime with the entire afternoon ahead of you.
Saturday 11 July
Feira da Vandoma — Porto's legendary flea market
Every Saturday morning, Avenida 25 de Abril fills with stalls of vinyl, vintage clothing, old books, azulejos and curiosities. If you're sailing with us at sunrise, the Vandoma is still going when you step ashore — a perfect first stop, and entry is free.
Festival da Comida Continente — Parque da Cidade (free)
The big one this weekend. Porto's City Park turns into a giant open-air kitchen and concert ground, with free entry all weekend from 11:00 to around 23:00. Six chefs — including Chakall, Hélio Loureiro and Justa Nobre — cook live at the Cozinha Continente (12:00–22:00), and three stages keep the music going all day.
Saturday's headline acts: Mizzy Miles (18:15), MC Livinho (21:15) and Karetus (22:45) on the main stage, with Sons do Minho, Sambinha do Zé and Rosinha on the Arraial stage and a Kids stage from 11:00. Free entry.

Jazz no Parque — Serralves (17:00–19:30)
The 35th edition of Serralves' beloved jazz cycle continues this Saturday with Ilha Animal (José Lencastre, Joana Guerra, João Valinho) at 17:00 and the Hery Paz Quartet at 18:30, played among the gardens of the foundation. A more contemplative alternative to the City Park — and the gardens alone are worth the ticket.
Open-air cinema at Praça da Batalha (21:30, free)
The "Oásis: O Nosso Amor, O Nosso Verão" cycle brings free films under the stars to Praça da Batalha all through mid-July. Saturday's screening is Leos Carax's Les Amants du Pont-Neuf — lovers on a Paris bridge, watched from a Porto square. Bring a light jacket; the Atlantic breeze finds its way up the hill.
Porta-Jazz ao Relento — Jardins do Palácio de Cristal (22:00, free)
Prefer live music to film? The 16th edition of Porta-Jazz ao Relento fills the gardens by the Lago dos Cavalinhos with free late-night jazz. On Saturday, bassist João Próspero presents "Sopros" with Galician pianist Abe Rábade — a sonic journey inspired by Haruki Murakami. And the gardens overlook the Douro, so you can spot tomorrow's sailing route from above.

Sunday 12 July
Morning under sail, afternoon in the park
Sunday is the gentler day — ideal for that morning boat tour before the crowds, then straight on to the Parque da Cidade. Sunday's Festival da Comida Continente line-up leans warmer and more soulful: Sara Correia (16:15), Anselmo Ralph (18:45) and Tony Carreira (21:30) on the main stage, with Santamaria and Zé Amaro on the Arraial stage. Free entry.
Two ways to end the weekend (both free)
At 21:30, Praça da Batalha screens Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet — DiCaprio, Claire Danes and a warm July night, no booking needed. Or head to the Jardins do Palácio de Cristal at 22:00 for the closing night of Porta-Jazz ao Relento, with Vera Morais' "Eupnea", an ensemble of voices and flutes from across Europe.

Local tips from the crew
- Book the boat for the morning. July afternoons get busy on the river; mornings are calm, cooler and the light is better for photos.
- Go hungry to the Parque da Cidade. The Cozinha Continente sessions run 12:00–22:00 — time your visit around a chef you want to see.
- Metro beats parking. For the City Park, hop off at Matosinhos Sul or take a bus along Avenida da Boavista — parking nearby fills up fast on festival days.
- Layer up for the evening. Even in July, the nortada breeze cools Porto evenings quickly — bring a jumper for open-air cinema.
Line-ups and times per the official festival pages and the Agenda Cultural do Porto. Programmes may change — always check the organisers' channels before you go.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Festival da Comida Continente really free?
Yes — entry to the Parque da Cidade festival is free on both days, including all concerts. You pay only for food and drinks.
What time should we sail to be back for the festival?
A 9:00 or 10:00 departure gets you back to the marina by lunchtime — the festival runs until around 23:00, so you'll miss nothing.
Do I need tickets for the open-air cinema?
No. The Oásis screenings at Praça da Batalha are free, no booking required. Screenings start at 21:30.
What if the weather turns?
July is Porto's most reliable month on the water. If conditions ever make sailing unsafe, we reschedule or refund — see our cancellation policy.
Can we combine the sail with the Douro Valley?
Yes — our full-day Douro Valley Discovery is the weekend upgrade if you'd rather trade festivals for vineyards.
See Porto from the water first
